About Beata
I'm Beata Truskolaska, and I've been preparing tax returns and keeping books for individuals and businesses for more than 20 years. In that time I've worked through nearly every situation a return can bring: growing families, new businesses, nonresident filings, payroll, and books that have fallen years behind.
When you work with Just Right Bookkeeping, you work with me directly, from your first call to the day your return is filed. I take the time to understand your situation, explain everything in plain language, and check every detail before anything goes to the IRS.
I'm registered with the IRS as a paid tax return preparer and stay current on changes in tax law each year. Your documents and personal information are handled with care and kept strictly confidential. I work with clients in both English and Polish.

Questions and answers
Appointments
How do I make an appointment?
Book online at a time that suits you, or call 646-587-3318. If I can't pick up, leave a message and I'll call you back.
Do I have to come in person?
No. Appointments can be in person, by phone or by video, whichever is easiest for you.
Which areas do you serve?
All five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island) and Long Island, including Nassau and Suffolk counties. Phone and video appointments mean you don't have to live nearby.
Do you speak Polish?
Yes. I work with clients in both English and Polish. Tak, mówimy po polsku.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. Your documents and personal information are handled with care and kept strictly confidential.
Tax returns
I'm not a U.S. resident. Can you prepare my return?
Yes. I prepare Form 1040-NR returns for students, workers and investors who have U.S. income but aren't U.S. residents for tax purposes.
How much will my return cost?
See "Starting prices" on this page. Your exact fee depends on the type of return and how much is involved, and you'll know it before any work begins. New clients get 10% off their tax return in their first year with me.
What documents should I bring?
See the checklist under "What to bring" on this page. If you're missing something, bring what you have and we'll work out the rest together.
Bookkeeping and payroll
What bookkeeping services do you offer?
Ongoing bookkeeping to keep your records up to date, plus cleanup for books that have fallen behind. For businesses I also handle sales tax returns, payroll and payroll tax filings.
My books are months or years behind. Can you help?
Yes. I can sort through your records, reconcile your accounts and get your books caught up, so your business tax return is accurate and on time.
What will you need from me?
Usually your bank and credit card statements, along with sales records, invoices and receipts. If anything is missing, I'll tell you exactly what to look for.
Why does good bookkeeping matter at tax time?
Accurate books mean an accurate return. They make it easier to claim the deductions you're entitled to, avoid surprises, and answer any questions from tax agencies.
Do I need a bookkeeper if I'm a small business?
Even a one-person business benefits from organized books. It saves time at tax season and shows you clearly how your business is doing during the year.
Notary public
Do you offer notary services?
Yes. I'm a notary public, so if you need a document notarized, call or book an appointment.
What do I need to bring?
A valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, and the document to be notarized. Don't sign it ahead of time; you'll sign in front of me.
Can I get something notarized during my tax appointment?
Yes. Just mention it when you book or bring it with you, and we can take care of it at the same visit.
Can a notary give legal advice or fill out my documents?
No. A notary verifies your identity and witnesses your signature. For questions about what a document says or means, please speak with an attorney.
